Postcard Pricing

Most of these postcards run in the $6-$8 range, some will gust up to $12-$15 range. Strangely I have not found a strong correlation between the price of the card to its subject matter, rarity or condition. Odd. My most generous conclusion is that I haven’t really got into the higher end card world just yet, when presumably “the market” would drive traditional pricing curves. Another possibility includes the disturbing idea that I am the only person around specifically collecting these types of Postcards and there is as a result no market and certainly no market force driving the pricing. Maybe I’ll send Warren Buffet a note to ask what he thinks.

I haven’t yet waded into the parallel world of RP/PC collecting yet. Presumably there are some repeats and some new images. RP cards seem to run 2x – 5x greater $$ than regular postcards. But they rarely seem to have been used as actual postcards and generally are missing the human touch of a hand written note, addressed to a favourite Aunt, with a stamp of the old king, postmarked Parry Sound in the AM, in the middle of World War II.
